KC Chiefs Athletic Trainer’s Locker Room Medical Workstation
This custom locker room trunk was built for the Kansas City Chiefs as an all-in-one workstation for their traveling athletic trainers. The trunk holds items in neat and organized bins and provides a work surface for tasks.
The trunk interior is finished with black textured coating. The lid features dual 24 bin tilting storage bins for small parts. A sharps container with a 5qt insert is provided for biohazard used needle storage. 3 boxes of latex exam gloves can be stored in a stainless-steel sleeve for easy dispensing. A cork board and a white board are mounted at the top right side of the lid for notes. The main work surface is built from ¾” Baltic Birch plywood, laminated with black Formica and finished with rubber T-molding.
The drawers are built into a ½” plywood inner shell. This inner shell is fully isolated from the trunk exterior via ½” PE foam. The inner isolation shell allows the trunk exterior to flex and not transfer any stress to the drawers and glides. Each drawer is built from ½” Baltic Birch, mounted on HD Accuride® glides and finished with black textured coating. The top 3 drawers feature ½” marine grade plastic removable dividers that split each drawer into thirds. The bottom drawer is open for larger items.
The trunk’s front 2 lids each feature 5 storage compartments. These compartments are built from ½” black marine grade plastic and are split into thirds. The faces of each compartment are built from 3/8” clear Lexan plastic. Each compartment door features a HD Southco® slam latch.
The trunk exterior is built from ½” plywood laminated with black ABS plastic. The trunk hardware set features 10 deep recessed handles and pad lockable hasp latches. The trunk rides on 6 - 4” Colson casters with the front 4 locking.
