16 Space Rugged Server Transit Rack w/Fans & Custom Power Panels
The custom portable server transit case built by LM Cases is designed to transport servers in touring conditions. The case features 3 rack sections designed to separate power and control from the servers.
The case features an external 2U top mounted rack section designed for a KVM. This rack section features 3 rail sets. The front and mid rails are spaced 24” apart to accommodate the front and rear mounting of a KVM. A rear set is positioned 37.875” from the front rails allowing for a rear patch panel to be used or to accommodate deeper enterprise models of KVMs.
The 16U main rack section is 37.875” deep. It features “box” style rail designed for cage nuts. The front & rear rails can be adjusted via 3 mounting positions. The rails can be attached to different mount points via standard ¼-20 hex bolts. From the factory, the rails are set at 32” apart. The rack section features a .375” thick clear Lexan vented door w/Southco slam latches. The rear features a ½” marine grade plastic door with 4 exhaust fans mounted. Each fan runs at 18 dBA with a flow of 52 CFM. The fans exchange the atmosphere within the rack enclosure 17 times per minute. The fans feature a programmable controller mounted via a custom rack panel in the rear patch sections. A remote probe is included to monitor the internal rack temperature and can be used to trigger the fans when the temperature reaches a threshold. The rack is surrounded by 2” foam for shock protection. The foam is covered by custom fascia pieces. The shell is supported by 1” steel box tube to prevent sagging into the drawer/patch sections.
The bottom of the case features a HD storage drawer built from ½” Baltic Birch plywood, mounted on Accuride glides and finished with black textured coating. Behind the drawer is a 5U rack section that holds a 12 outlet power distribution unit, the fan control panel and a power/signal IO panel. The power panel comes configured with a Neutrik True1 locking power inlet. The inlet is mounted via an adapter plate that can be used to accommodate a Hubbell 5278 recessed male power inlet. 3 Neutrik NE8FDX-P6 locking Cat6 jacks are provided.
LM Tour Systems cables are included with the rack. A 25ft Edison AC to True1 locking power cable is provided to interface with the power panel and a normal 15 amp 3 prong wall plug. A 25ft True1 Male-Female link cable is provided to act as an extension cord should a longer power cable be required. The True1 connectors are both locking and have a water rating of IP65 when they are mated. 3 network cables are provided. Each cable features a locking Ethercon connector to mate with the I/O panel. The other end is an industrial RJ45 connector which can be used with standard network jacks. The cables are shielded and built from easily coiled Belden 1303e cable. All cables feature LM Tour Systems branded Velcro ties and un-shrunk clear heat shrink to affix customer ID labels or asset tags.
The case exterior is built from ½” plywood laminated with your choice of ABS plastic colors. The hardware set includes 8 deep recessed handles, 4 pad lockable hasp latches, table legs in each lid and a recessed top dish for dry erase ID labels. The case rides on HD 4” x 2” Colson casters mounted via a ¾” Baltic Birch caster board. The front 2 casters are locking.
