World Wrestling Entertainment Media Rack
This project was handled by our Custom Integration department. The process started with WWE and LM working together on gear selection and how the media rack would function in the brutal WWE touring environment. The rack needed to handle a wide variety of input signals to fulfill its duty as a multi format portable preview unit. The LM Custom Integration department handled everything from the sale and installation of the equipment to the custom metal work needed for rack panels and doors.
The interior rack is built out of Burled Walnut and features dual 18 space racks, custom drawers and storage for the 47″ Samsung monitor. Each component was designed to be accessed via a rack panel to aid in connectivity. System control is handled by a Marantz AV7005 preamp, power is provided via a QSC CX404 4 channel power amplifier. We needed a clean looking speaker that would fit into the design so 4 Tannoy IW6-TDC in wall speakers were chosen. Video inputs come from an Apple TV, Sony J-Series HD Cam deck, Samsung Blu Ray player, Apple Mac Book Pro, 2 component RCA and HDMI inputs mounted in rack panels. To accommodate additional audio inputs, a Studio Technologies Model 742 line mixer was used.
Since most components are web enabled, an Apple Airport Extreme router was employed. All components are hard wired to the Airport, the main ethernet input is addressed at the rear rack input panel. The units main power is inputted via a custom rack panel with a Powercon connector.
This project features a variety of custom metal rack panels. Custom 8 space access doors were created to provide a quick and easy way to access the interior components of the rack. All panels feature laser labeling and the WWE logo.
The exterior case is built out of 1/2″ plywood and features 4″ x 2″ casters, custom silkscreens of the WWE logo and deep recessed handles.
Special thanks to WWE!
